History of Clovelly
Clovelly was originally considered by white settlers to be an off-shoot of neighbouring Coogee but was re-named in 1912 after a fishing village in Devon. Its natural features & good fishing made it a sound choice for early colonialists & a permanent settlement was created in the 1830s. In 1909, the area was sub-divided throughout to make way for residential development. A tram to the area secured Clovelly as a popular area for beach visitors & local residents
